Recognizing the needs of each child and believing all children can learn, the mission of Glenview School District 34 is to empower children to be responsible learners and decision makers in a changing society.

34Connect
The Board of Education wanted to learn more about the priorities and opinions of the community regarding the school district. Therefore, in February of 2002, they convened a citizen-led effort titled 34Connect. The process included anyone in the community that wanted to be involved. Those who participated included business leaders, parents, clergy, community members and District employees. The goal of 34Connect was to provide the Board of Education the community priorities as the Board charts the future course of the District.

34Connect participants studied issues and challenges facing Glenview School District 34, such as student achievement, enrollment growth, new and existing programs, curricula, technology, finances and other key topics determined by the task force.

Along with the committee meetings, each school cluster held community meetings led by the principals in order to hear from even more citizens.

Based upon all of this review, the committee spent several meetings creating a list of priorities. From those priorities, the task force identified 13 recommendations in the areas of class size, facilities, staffing, student achievement, curriculum, diversity, finance and communications. These were presented to the Board of Education. Those recommendations are a large part of the District’s Long Range Plan developed by the Board of Education.
