Recognizing the needs of each child and believing all children can learn, the mission of Glenview School District 34 is to empower children to be responsible learners and decision makers in a changing society.

Board Members
Beth Primer (President)

Beth and her husband Dale have lived in Glenview since 1994. Beth and Dale work together in their management consulting practice, working with senior leaders to accelerate and sustain organizational growth. Before coming on the school board, Beth was a member of Westbrook/Glen Grove's Local School Council for four years and was a member of the Glenview Caucus. She was elected to the Board in 1999, re-elected in 2003 and re-elected in 2007.

Julie Shechtman (Vice President)

Julie was elected to a four-year term on the Board in 2007. She and her husband Brad have lived in Glenview since 2001. Julie earned her bachelors degree from the University of Pennsylvania - Wharton and her MBA from Harvard. She formerly worked at Goldman Sachs for 10 years. She is the founder and president of Friends of Youth Services. Julie served two years on the Citizens Finance Advisory Committee prior to being elected.

Sue Ellen Bohac Galligan
Sue Ellen and her husband John have lived in Glenview since 1990. Sue Ellen co-owns a marketing research company which works with Fortune 100 companies in identifying high potential consumer opportunities for business development and expansion. Sue Ellen holds a master's degree from the University of Illinois in Advertising & Consumer Behavior. She has been part of the following district committees: Board Finance Advisory Committee, 34 Connect, Education Committee and Technology Committee. Sue Ellen was elected to the Board in 1999, re-elected in 2003 and re-elected in 2007.
John Hinkamp
John and his wife Kathy have lived in Glenview since 1993. John works for an international financial services firm. John grew up in Chicago and graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has served three terms on the District 34 Facilities Committee prior to being elected to the Board in 2007.
John J. (Jack) Murphy

Jack grew up in Chicago and attended law school in Minnesota. He worked in the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office for 20 years, 10 as a criminal prosecutor and 10 representing Cook County and its elected officials in labor and employment litigation. He also has worked at WBBM-TV on its Investigative Team. He currently is a lawyer with Scariano, Himes and Petrarca, a law firm that specializes in representing school districts. Jack also taught trial advocacy at Kent Law School for 14 years. He was elected to the Board in 2005 and re-elected in 2009.

Chris Northwick

Chris is the mother of two current District 34 students and has been a Glenview resident since 2002. Her volunteer highlights include Lyon/Pleasant Ridge PTA President, PTA Council Prsdient, Glenview Education Foundation board member and co-chair of the New School Task Force. Until 2004, Chris was Vice President, Integrated Sales Strategy at SRDS, a part of the Nielsen Company. She is a graduate of Northwestern University. Chris was elected to the Board in 2009.

Cathe Russe

Cathe moved to Glenview in 2004 and has four daughters who are students in District 34. After a career in strategic planning, business development and marketing for both non-profit and for-profit organizations, Cathe retired to spend more time with her daughters. She currently manages a small hearing aid business and is an active volunteer. She serves as a board member of Friends of Youth Services Glenview/Northbrook, a board member on the Glenview Education Foundation and a board member of Willow House. She was elected to the Board in 2009.
