Web Accessibility Statement

A multitude of colorful hands reach upwards against a vibrant, abstract background.

Glenview School District 34 is committed to ensuring our website is accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We want every visitor, whether students, families, staff, or community members, to be able to find information and use our online tools without barriers.

Our Standard

We design and maintain our website to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, which is the technical standard adopted by the U.S. Department of Justice under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act for public entity websites. Where practical, we also look to newer WCAG 2.2 success criteria as good practice.

What We Are Doing

  • Reviewing new and existing pages for accessibility as part of our regular website workflow
  • Training staff who post content on accessible document and page design (headings, alt text, color contrast, link text, captions)
  • Working with our website provider, Finalsite, on platform-level accessibility features
  • Periodically testing key pages with automated tools and manual checks, including keyboard navigation and screen reader compatibility

Accessibility is an ongoing effort rather than a one-time fix. As we add new content, features, and third-party tools, we continue to evaluate and improve the visitor experience on our website.

Known Limitations

Some content on our site may not yet fully meet this standard, including:

  • Older PDFs and documents posted before our current accessibility practices were in place
  • Content and tools provided through third-party platforms (for example, PowerSchool, meal payment systems, or embedded forms), which we work with vendors to improve but don't fully control
  • Archived pages and older news posts not in active use

If you encounter any of these barriers, please let us know. We'll work to provide the information in an accessible format or fix the underlying issue.

Tell Us About a Problem

If you have trouble accessing any part of our website, please contact us. We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within 2 business days and will let you know the expected timeline for resolving the issue.
