Q: What are the bus rules?
Bus Rules
*Violation of these rules will result in severe disciplinary consequences:
- Students may not bring living creatures, alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, illegal drugs, firearms, any considered weapon or explosives, and/or any object considered harmful to others onto the bus.
- Students shall not bring any glass containers, unless encased in a break-resistant container, onto the bus.
- Students shall respect the decision of the bus driver regarding bus discipline and/or safety.
- Students shall not use vulgarity, profanity, or fight on the bus.
- Students shall remain seated at all times on the bus until signaled that it is time to leave by the driver.
- Students shall remain in their assigned seats.
- Students shall keep all parts of their bodies in the bus at all times.
- Students shall not operate the bus door, tamper with the emergency door, or us the emergency door except in the case of an emergency.
WHEN BOARDING:
- Students shall act in a safe manner while waiting at bus stops.
- Students shall be on time at the bus stop 5 minutes before boarding time.
- Students shall line up for boarding when the bus comes into view.
- Students shall board only assigned buses.
- Students shall not bring toys onto the bus unless kept in book bags and/or backpacks.
WHEN RIDING:
- 15. Students shall not play any radios, cassettes, or headset radio/cassettes on the bus.
- 16. Students shall not block the aisle or emergency door with musical instruments, lunch boxes, books, book bags, or other possessions.
- 17. Students shall conduct themselves in a safe, responsible manner at all times.
- 18. Students shall not eat, drink, chew gum or spit on the bus.
- 19. Students shall keep all carry-on bags, band instruments, lunch boxes on their laps while riding. If it does not fit on the lap, it does not belong on the bus.
- 20. Students shall place any trash in proper receptacles and help the driver in keeping the bus clean.
- 21. Students shall not do homework on the bus requiring pencils, pens, markers and/or crayons. These items shall be kept in book bags or backpacks.
- 22. Students shall not use the bus as a place to change clothes.
- 23. Students shall not use loud talking, yell out windows, or make any unusual noises while on the bus.
WHEN DEPARTING:
- 24. Students shall remain in their seats and not depart from the bus in the morning until it arrives at the designated school of the student.
- 25. Students shall remain in their seats and not depart from the bus in the afternoon except at their designated bus stop.
- 26. Students, who must cross the street after departing from the bus, shall cross only in front of the bus on the signal by the driver.
Bus Violation Consequences
- 1st Offense:
- Warning by the driver
- Written report to the principal
- 2nd Offense:
- Driver may change student's seat
- Student conference with driver
- Written report to the principal with parent notification
- 3rd Offense:
- Written report to the principal with parent notification
- Student conference with driver and principal
- Parent conference with the principal with outcome reported to the driver
- Possible suspension from the bus
- 4th Offense:
- Suspension from bus privileges for a designated period of time.
- Some infractions may be so severe that suspension from the bus may be initiated immediately.
