AIMSWEB Testing & NWEA Testing

AIMSWEB Testing

Dear Parents and Guardians,

District 34 strives to provide a comprehensive assessment program that aligns with our curriculum and informs our instructional planning and services. Teachers’ observations of student performance are complemented by various classroom and standardized assessments to provide the most thorough picture of student progress throughout the year.

District 34 utilizes AIMSWEB assessments in grades Kindergarten through Second as one achievement measure for reading and math.  AIMSWEB is one of the many tools that District 34 uses to determine students’ instructional levels as well as to monitor the progress they are making throughout the school year and from year to year. We administer this assessment in the fall, winter, and spring. Fall assessment provides baseline data; winter and spring assessments provide achievement and growth data.

First and second grade students will begin taking AIMSWEB during the month of October. Kindergarten students will take their first set of AIMSWEB assessments in January.

  • Hybrid Testing: Students who are attending school in person in our Hybrid environment will take AIMSWEB tests during their in-person time. Accommodations will be made just as in the past.
  • GOAL Testing: GOAL students will take AIMSWEB tests remotely.

You will receive specific building/GOAL schedules and procedures soon.

We look forward to working together with you this year to provide a rich learning experience for your child. We appreciate the support you provide at home as the primary educator for your child.

As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher or building principal.

NWEA/MAP Testing

Dear Parents and Guardians,

After we have time to settle into a Hybrid learning environment, following a spring and early fall that included educational experiences like never before, District 34 will begin to administer NEWA’s Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) assessments to students in grades 3 through 8. MAP testing is one of the many tools that District 34 uses to determine students’ instructional levels as well as to monitor the progress they are making throughout the school year and from year to year. That understanding of each student’s level and progress is more important for our teachers now than ever before.

MAP is one achievement measure for reading and math. We administer this assessment in the fall, winter, and spring. Fall assessment provides baseline data; winter and spring assessments provide achievement and growth data.

Students will begin taking MAP during the month of October.

  • Hybrid Testing: Students who are attending school in person in our Hybrid environment will take MAP tests during their in-person time. Accommodations will be made just as in the past.
  • GOAL Testing: GOAL students will take MAP tests remotely.

You will receive specific building/GOAL schedules and procedures soon.

We look forward to working together with you this year -- even more closely than in years past -- to provide a rich learning experience for your child. We appreciate the support you provide at home as the primary educator for your child.

As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher or building principal.
