The Centers for Disease Control issued guidance on Friday that allows schools to lift mask requirements indoors for vaccinated staff and students (previous guidance lifted mask requirements outdoors). The Illinois Department of Public Health adopted that guidance, and Dr. Carmen Ayala, the State Superintendent for Education, issued a statement that the Illinois State Board of Education is following that guidance. As always, District 34 plans to follow the guidance of the IDPH and ISBE.
District 34 has begun to thoroughly review the details of the guidance and determine the impact on District 34’s health and safety protocols for the start of the school year. We promise to share our protocols and other important information as soon as we can prior to August 18, the first day of school for grades 1-8. However, we want you to know that, throughout the spring and summer, we have been planning and preparing for a 2021-2022 school year that, in some areas, picks up where we left off in March 2020.
