Dear D34 Families,
Later this month, the District will be collecting information about social-emotional learning and student well being through a survey from Panorama Education. Panorama is our partner in helping District 34 improve school climate and culture, social-emotional learning and student well being and outcomes.
The K-2 survey will be an observational perception survey completed by the classroom teacher. Students in grades 3-8 will take the online survey. Per Board Policy 7:15, you have the right to review the survey questions and decide if you do not wish your child to participate. If you would like to review the questions, please contact me for a copy of the survey. If you do not wish your child to take the survey, please email both me and your child's principal by October 19, 2020.
Especially this year, when our partnership in supporting your child has never been more important, we want to know what parents think, too. The parent survey asks questions like:
- How well do administrators at your child’s school create a school environment that helps children learn?
- How motivating are the classroom lessons at your child's school?
- If your child fails to reach an important goal, how likely is s/he to try again?
The data will allow us to identify what we are doing well and where we can focus our efforts, including family support, school climate and developing grit.
The completely anonymous online survey will take less than 10 minutes. You will receive an email with more specific information and the survey link later this month.
D34 Parent Connect - Parent Education
The survey also will include information on what types of parent education are valuable to you. You may have participated in D34 ParentConnect’s presentations or discussion groups in the past, and we want to continue to provide meaningful opportunities for parents to get the support that is most valuable to you.
You can also view the presentation slides. You’ll hear tips on setting routines, establishing priorities and connecting with helpful resources in the schools and around the community.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership - and your willingness to take so many surveys to provide us important input to help us make our schools the best they can be for your children!
